Mass is not force
Kilograms, grams, pounds, and ounces measure mass. Weight is technically the force gravity exerts on a mass and is measured in newtons in SI. Everyday language often says “weight converter,” but this calculator preserves the correct mass quantity.
Avoirdupois units
These pages use the international avoirdupois pound and ounce used for common goods and body mass. Troy ounces, used for precious metals, are a different unit and are not silently substituted.
